Test 3 - Frequency Response 21-Nov-09:

Test Equipment :
Tube Pre Amp - Behringer MIC 100
Microphone - Behringer ECM 8000
Laptop - HP Pavilion dv9000
Software - TrueRTA-3 Spectrum Analyzer
Music - Diana Krall - S'Wonderful Hybrid SACD/CD

SACD Test Green disconnected, Purple Connected.
CD Test Yellow connected, Orange Disconnected.
What I was looking for here is the effect, change or influence that the SPT-100 had on the music that was playing. The graphs show the peak frequency values attained during the entire play of the song. Not much difference between the SPT-100 connected, or disconnected during SACD playback. There is a difference between the CD' tests, the bass response below 25 HZ was better during the CD playback without the SPT-100's connected.

This was one song, and one test, maybe more tests are needed to clear out any anomalies, therefore I would consider the connection, or disconnection somewhat similar.

Conclusions:
The claims of a Super Tweeter's expanded soundstage, enhanced bottom end was not heard, felt or sensed in any way during any of my tests. The high frequency's volume was a very, very small amount higher, but that would be expected with the addition of another tweeter, no different than adding a sub woofer to enhance the low frequency's. There was really no improved frequency response above 20Khz, whether they were connected, or disconnected, you can see this in the graphs.

If frequency's above the range of human hearing are claimed, I am surprised with the crossover choices of 12Khz, or 15Khz, would it not make more sense to have the crossover at 18, or 20Khz? I guess this is a question for the engineers, and designers of super tweeters to decide.

A test that I did not attempt was to add the super tweeters to an aging set of speakers that have a poor high end, maybe they may help, but from the tests I performed, I will stick with my ConceptTwo's without the addition any super tweeters…

Thank You for the opportunity…
